Margot Herzog Neale, age 79, of Springfield, Missouri passed away at 2 pm Friday, February 7, 2014 at her home from complications of lung cancer.
She was born in Springfield, Missouri to Max and Winifred Herzog, February 19, 1935. She graduated from Greenwood Laboratory School in Springfield and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She also graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.
She was a good Violinist and was active in the Springfield Symphony. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was active in the Springfield Bridge Club working at and attending many tournaments. She was very good at numerous crafts and won many ribbons at the Ozark Empire District Fair. She was an excellent seamstress and made lots of clothes for her children and grandchildren. She was an active reader and enjoyed many various books. She loved animals of all sorts owning at different times dogs, cats, chickens, peacocks, horses, fish and goats. She liked people and will be greatly missed by her classmates and many friends and family.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Harry Groves Neale, Jr. and 4 children. Julie Neale Meyer with her husband Michael of Sunnyvale, California: William Scott Neale of Chicago, Illinois with wife Moira and their 2 children William and Ruby: and George Ferguson Neale of Mercer Island, Washington with his wife Katharine and their children Zachary and Gabriel; and Christopher Lee Neale of the home.
Arrangements are being handled by Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home in Springfield. At Margots’ request, there will be no funeral, graveside or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate in her memory to Hospice Compassus, 1465 E. Primrose, Springfield, MO 65804. Hospice people have been and still are being of great comfort and help to Margot and her family during the past several months.
