Margaret Lucille Elliott, 92, Springfield, passed away January 12, 2013.
She was born April 28, 1920 in Rogers, Arkansas to Harry and Laura Spirgen. Margaret was a member of the Ascension Episcopal Church in Springfield. She was a very active member of the St. Ann Guild in the church. She was also active in the Democrat party. She was a recipient of the Mel Carnahan Service Award. Margaret was also a volunteer at the Next to New Store at Christ Episcopal Church for many years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; spouse, Howard Elliott; and son-in-law, Bill Abbott.
She is survived by her daughters, Libby Moore (Dennis) of St. Louis and Laura Abbott of Springfield; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday January 22, 2013 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. Burial will follow in Springfield National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515 Northampton, MA 01061-0515.
