Margaret Irene Brown, 88, of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday December 13, 2012 in Mercy Hospital.
Born on April 14, 1924 in Denver, CO to Stanley and Helen (Hanson) Zolanek, she was a graduate and proud alumna of the University of Denver in Denver, Colorado.
Margaret was a chemist at Mobay Inc. in Kansas City, MO from 1976-1988. She also worked as a housemother at Baker University in Baldwin, KS. After retiring, she spent lots of time traveling and playing bridge. Margaret loved spending time with her family & friends, and especially enjoyed meeting up with a group of friends for breakfast and coffee in the early morning.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Douglas A. Brown and her siblings, Ruth Todd, Melvin Zolanek and Frank Zolanek.
She is survived by her children, Robert “Skip” Brown and his wife Cindy of Tucson, Arizona, Gretchen Heinz and her husband Terry of Springfield, Missouri and Paul Brown and his wife Carolyn of Tucson, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Robert Brown, Geoff Brown, Jessica Gourvitz, Brad Heinz, Jordan Heinz, Stanley Brown and Tyler Brown; two great grandchildren, Jesse Brown and Hudson Heinz.
Margaret’s laughter, vivacious personality, and giving nature will be greatly missed, but always remembered.
A memorial service will be held at Schweitzer United Methodist Church at 2747 East Sunshine Street Springfield, MO 65804 on January 19 at 11am.
