Marcia A. Bramer, 86 years old, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met.
Marcia was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo on May 30th, 1938. Marcia was a woman of strength, compassion and had a lively spirit. She spent many happy years living by the lake in Rogers, AR, where she found joy in the beauty of her surroundings and cherished her friendships that she developed there. However, her love for Springfield, Mo—especially cashew chicken and Mexican Villa—led her to return to her roots in Springfield later in life.
In 1958 she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Bramer, and they went on to have seven children together. Once all of the children were in school, Marcia decided to pursue a professional dream and she completed LPN schooling at Burge School of Nursing. Marcia managed to work full time, drive her children to activity practices and attend numerous sporting events over a span of many years.
Marcia was known for her quick wit, generous spirit and the way she could light up any room. Marcia was a friend to many and a confidante to those lucky enough to call her “Mom”, “Nana”, “Grandma”, “Arkansas”, “Momma B” and “Groovy”. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, sharing stories, and laughing until her heart was content. Her favorite hobbies included reading, quilting, crossword puzzles, watching Jeopardy, crime shows and she also loved dogs.
Marcia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph; her three brothers Jude Griesemer, Regis Griesemer and Dennis Griesemer. She is survived by her seven children who were the light of her life: Jody (Trish); Jan (Farrell); Sharon (Amy); Thomas (Julia); Mark (Tea); Daniel (Sara) and Anne Marie. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, two brothers Damian Griesemer and Kevin Griesemer, several nieces and nephews and her furry companion, Rosie.
A visitation will be held at 10am at St Elizabeth Ann Seton, Springfield, MO, Thursday, September 5th followed by the funeral at 11am and the burial at St Mary’s Cemetery, Springfield, MO. After the burial, there will be a luncheon served at St Elizabeth Ann Seton.
