Maggie “Ann” Bliler was born to Jess and Eula Stevens Giger on October 11, 1936 at Sarcoxie, Missouri. She passed away at her son’s home on May 1, 2013 in Fair Grove, Missouri.
Maggie started working at the drug store on the square in Sarcoxie when she was in 6th grade and formed a strong work ethic. After graduating Sarcoxie High School Maggie studied to be an x-ray technician and worked for doctors and hospitals for several years.
On July 5, 1958 Maggie married Joseph E. Bliler of Diamond. They welcomed their only child, Jerry W. Bliler, on April 1, 1960. In 1964, she began work at Carlson’s Hardware and remained there until 1973 when she started a career at FAG Bearing in Joplin. After 18 years, she retired due to failing eyesight in 1991.
During this time the family was actively involved in the Carl Junction Christian Church and remained there until a series of moves that led them to Springfield in 1993. Although Maggie’s eyesight continued to fail, she led a very active life and never let her disability alter her plans. She found great joy in keeping busy and spending time with her son, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. They were always around waiting for the tootsie rolls she kept in her purse.
Maggie is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Bliler who passed in 2006 and her brother, Leo Giger, who passed in 2012. She is survived by her son Jerry and his wife Kathy of Fair Grove; granddaughter Gen Lohr of Fair Grove; granddaughter Becca Bliler of Columbia; Grandsons Sam and Kevin Bliler of Fair Grove; and five great grandchildren, Andrew, Ellie, Henry, Amelia, and Randall Lohr.
The family would ask that a donation to the charity of your choice be given in Maggie Ann Bliler’s memory in lieu of flowers. The memorial service will be held at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., on Monday May 6, 2013 at 1:00 in the afternoon. A gathering will be held at Mille’s Café on 313 S.
