Kathern Lucille Knapp was born January 27, 1926 to Joseph Jones and Gladys Foster in Clever, Missouri. She passed away December 24, 2009 at the age of 83 years, 11 months. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Knapp, and her brother, Joe Jones, Jr.

Her surviving family includes: son Don Knapp and wife Joyce of Rolla, Missouri; daughter Linda Tevebaugh of Springfield; brother Larry Jones and wife Sue of Ozark, Missouri; five granddaughters - Amanda Tevebaugh of Springfield; Cisely Tevebaugh of Springfield; Abigail Unzicker and husband Bill of Martinez, California; Stephanie Stoecker and husband Charles of Friville, France; Emily Knapp of Davis, California; 3 great-grandsons and 3 great-granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Lucille graduated from Clever High School in 1943. She graduated from St. John's Nursing School in 1946. Lucille and Art were united in marriage at Temple Baptist Church on February 14, 1947. Her medical career in nursing included working at O'Reilly's Veteran's Hospital, Columbia Medical Center, Houston Memorial Hospital, and St. John's Hospital in Springfield. After many years of being a registered nurse, Lucille became one of the first graduates from St. John's School of Anesthesia in 1961. She finished out her medical career as a CRNA with PAS, Inc. After retiring from the medical field, Lucille served as an officer for the St. John's Alumni Graduates Association. She was an active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church.

Lucille was a kind hearted, caring, and giving Christian lady who was deeply loved by her family and friends. She always remembered loved ones' birthdays and special occasions with a card or a note. She will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know her and love her.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 28, 2009 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. in Springfield.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday December 29, 2009 at the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Boehmer officiating. Interment will follow in Springfield National Cemetery.
