Lowell Grainge

Lowell F. "Sonny" Grainge, 90, passed peacefully from this life to the next on October 5, 2023. He was born October 2, 1933, to Emil R. and Mary Lois (Wasson) Grainge in Berwyn, IL. He was raised on Riverdale Farm south of Nixa, MO, milking cows, baling hay, riding the tractor among other farm related chores. He graduated from Nixa High School in 1951, where he was Student Body President his senior year. Sonny worked in management for Walmart. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle which he owned for many years. He was baptized at an early age and was a member of Brentwood Christian Church.

Sonny is survived by his loving wife, Wilma; sister, Carolyn (Jim) Henderson of Republic; two daughters, Deborah Lotspeich of St. Louis, MO and Elizabeth Grainge of Austin, TX; four grandchildren, Sarah (Frank) Bertone, Emily (Mackenzie) Evans, Rebecca (Kevin) Balandis, and Timothy (Pennie) Werner; five step-children, Mark Goswick, Leslie Welsh, Rachel Smith, Mark Riddle and Brenda Mills; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Macy, Wyatt, Austin, Josie and Conor; niece, Catherine Barrett and nephew, Richard Henderson.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, Jerry Grainge and Pamela Grainge; daughter, Patricia Phillips; granddaughter, Melissa Rankin; stepson, David Goodenough, son-in-law Jim Lotspeich and his beloved dog, Catfish.

Sonny will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and cousins.

We want to thank Regional Hospice especially Debra and Sonny’s wonderful nurse, Hannah, and Springfield Villa for wonderful care.

Cremation is under the direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held later.
