Loran Stillings

Loran L. Stillings, 85, of Clinton, Iowa, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Mercy Living Center - South Campus.

Loran was born November 12, 1922, in Douglas County, MO, to Elzia and Anna (Swearengin) Stillings. He married Helen Griffin on April 11, 1947 in Kansas City, MO. He was a Pipe Fitter, local 178 out of Springfield, MO and served in the U.S. Army, 6th Army Pacific Theater from 1943 to 1945. He loved the outdoors, spending his time hunting and fishing. He enjoyed camping and boating. He especially loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Clinton, Iowa; sons, James (Patty) Stillings of Willard, MO, Joseph (Judy) Stillings of Lamp, MO, John Stillings of Clinton, IA, Mike (Nancy) Stillings of Camanche, IA, Charles (Amanda) Stillings of Clinton, IA, Thomas (Brenda) Stillings of Albany, IA; daughters, Anna Stillings of Clinton, IA, Mary Milligan of Albany, IA, Teresa (Warren) Brock of St Charles, MO; Veronica Stillings of Sterling, Ill; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Robert.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday November 14, 2008 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut with Rosary services starting at 7:30. Memorial graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in Resurrection Cemetery.
