Linville Oliver Burgher

Linville Oliver Burgher (also known as Sonny or Lin) was born August 11, 1945 in Clark County, Kentucky on the family farm to Kenny Burgher and Cynthia Woosley Burgher. At a young age, the family moved by train to California and soon thereafter to Weiser, Idaho. Lin attended Weiser schools, graduating from Weiser High School in 1964. Lin was known to family and friends during his school years as "Sonny". When he started first grade, so they story goes, the teacher kept calling the name Linville - this is when he learned his given name was not Sonny.Lin accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior during his teen years. Lin worked in a local auto parts store in Weiser into his early 20's. He moved to Pueblo, Colorado , for a short time before moving to Springfield, Missouri to attend Baptist Bible College, now Mission University, graduating in 1972.

While in Springfield, he met, fell in love and married the love of his life, Donna Flowers. They were married May 28, 1971. After Lin's graduation in 1972, they moved to Weiser, Idaho and eventually Nampa, Idaho. They returned to Springfield,Missouri in 1987. To this union was adopted a daughter, Kimberly Renae and a son, Steven Andrew.

After moving back to Springfield, Missouri Lin worked at several factories and eventually worked for 13 years in EVS at Cox South retiring in 2015.

Lin's health declined after retirement, eventually diagnosed in 2017 with ESRD (End Stage Renal Disease) and began out patient dialysis at Cox Health Ozark Dialysis Sevices South. In May of 2023, he became the first dialysis patient at the new Cox Health ODS North Side location. Lin never complained about his health issues or dialysis restrictions. Lin was cared for by his wife for 9+ years until a stoke in January 2025. At that time, he became a resident of Maranatha Lodge (nursing home), Maranatha Village.

On April 5, 2025 Lin passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus from end stage Kidney disease after almost 8 years of out patient dialysis. The family thanks the Cox Health Out Patient ODS for the excellent care given to Lin, to give him nearly 8 more years of life with the dialysis treatments 3 times a week.

Also the family thanks the staff of Maranatha Village Rehab and Lodge for their excellent care during these last weeks.

Lin is preceded in death by his parents, Kenny and Cynthia Burgher; two sisters, Wilma Newton and Barbara Yarter; two brothers-in-law, Glenn Newton and Jim Young; a daughter, Kimberly Podurgiel; and a nephew, David Young. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that HE gave is HIS only begotten Son, that whoever believes in HIM should not parish but have evelasting life.

Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
