Linda Ruth (Usrey) Mason, 81, went home to meet her Lord on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. She was born in Springfield, Missouri on June 21, 1943, to Charles Edwin Usrey of Alpena, Arkansas, and Mabel Ruth (Sugg) Usrey of Dry Fork, Arkansas.
Linda grew up in Springfield, attended public schools, and graduated from Central High School in 1961. She became an X-ray technician and worked for Ferrell-Duncan Clinic. Linda married James Benton Mason, Jr. on September 10, 1966, and together, they had one son, James Charles Mason on November 15, 1973.
Linda was heavily involved in the community throughout her life. She was a past Regent of the Rachel Donelson Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, past president of PEO Chapter KT, past president of Springfield Ladies Saturday Club, and involved with the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Springfield Sorosis Club. At one time, Linda was also a member of Cescent Chapter No. 21, Order of the Eastern Star, Jewel Court No. 16 Order of the Amaranth, and Queen Esther Conclave, Order of True Kindred. Linda was a lifelong member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, now the Downtown Church at Walnut and Jefferson. She was very talented in needlepoint and loved to knit, crochet, and do various handiwork. She loved reading, spending time with her friends, and ice cream.
Linda is survived by her son, James, and his wife Misty (Hardesty) Mason of Willard Mo, her grandson, Jacob Collin Mason, also of Willard, and many cousins and special lifelong friends.
Visitation will be from 3-5 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 East Walnut St. Springfield, MO. 65806. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Monday, August 19, 2024, in the Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel with burial following at Maple Park Cemetery.
