Leroy "Gene" Harris
LeRoy "Gene" Harris, age 80, passed away in his home on May 7, 2011.
Born in Rock Hill, MO., graduated in Richland, MO. and raised his family in Springfield, Gene found his trade that he wanted and loved in the field of electric line construction and maintenance, and did this for 50 years. Gene retired from City Utilities as the supervisor of the electric line and tree trimming crews. He was a proud member of the I.B.E.W. Local 753 and the CURFEW.
He is survived by two daughters, Karla Harris and her husband, Wilton (Bear) of Collins, Missouri; and Brenda Malone and her husband, Sam, of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tanesa Meier, Sage Harris Hill, Tasha Malone, Summer Stout, and Keona Malone; one great-grand child, Stettler Franks; his sister, Marie Hisel of Ballwin, Missouri several friends, and his Jack Russell Terrier, Mickie.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., Springfield, Missouri 65806.
