Leonard Bailey

Leonard M Bailey was promoted to his heavenly reward on November 27, 2022. He was born on August 31, 1932, the son of Vernon Leonard and Louise Marie (Brahn) Bailey of Wing, North Dakota.

He was raised on a farm in rural Wing, ND. He attended a rural country school for the first eight grades and graduated from Wing High School in 1950. He joined the USAF for four years in September 1952 (Korean Conflicts). While stationed in Amarillo, Texas, he met and married Frances Fay Robinette on May 23, 1953. He spent 18 months in Youngstown, Ohio the 18 months at Chitose AFB Hokkaido, Japan. The last 3 months at Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.

After discharge from the Air Force in August 1956, they moved to Springfield, MO to attend Central Bible College where he graduated in 1961 and became a minister for the Assemblies of God. He then served as a minister a Fair Grove AG, Peace Chapel AG (rural Fair Grove), First Assembly Beloit, WI and then March AG in Elkland, MO. Part of this time he worked at Gospel Publishing House, retiring from there in August of 1994 after 29 years of service.

Leonard was proceeded in death by his parents, Vernon & Louise Bailey; Frances, his wife of 62 years; sister, Alta; brother, Kenneth; grandson, Nathan Cooper; and sister, Marion.

He is survived by a son, Curtis Bailey, Springfield, MO; a daughter, Coleen Cooper and husband Dwight, Springfield, MO; daughter-in-law, Lori Spence, Springfield, MO; sisters, Lois Seelye and Mavis Stasney and husband Glenn, Mandan ND; five grandchildren, Bradley Cooper, Cody Cooper and wife Amy, Cara Bailey and husband Jason, Joshua Bailey and wife Emily, Jenni Fry and husband Micah; nine great grandchildren, Ethan Cooper and wife Maranda; Dominick, Lukus and Lillie Cooper; Ellie Bailey; Brielle, Judah and Clair Bailey; Benjamin Fry and a host of friends.

Visitation will be held from 8:30am-9:30am on Friday, December 2, 2022 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri. Funeral Services will be held at 9:30am in the Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel with Pastor Phil Webb officiating. Burial will follow at 11:00am in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery where Full Military Honors willbe rendered in Leonards Honor.
