Lena Murray passed away April 2, 2010 at 9:50 PM in the Dade County Nursing Home where she had been a resident for several years.
Lena was born April 17, 1931 to the late Jess and Mary Cooper. She was united in marriage to Verne F. (Shorty) Murray on September 22, 1950.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jess and Mary Cooper, husband Verne Murray, son John Murray, daughter-in-law, Teresa Murray, grandson, Jansen Murray and her sister, Melba Trent and her brother, Fred cooper.
She is survived by immediate family, son Mike and wife Vonnie of Fort Worth, Texas, son, Kerry and wife Rachael and grandsons Jacob, Austin, and Tanner, of Harrisonville, Mo., son Dana and wife DeDe of Greenfield, Mo., and grandsons Jeremy and Tyler Murray (sons of the late John and Teresa )of Lockwood , Mo.
Lena was born near Crisp, Mo. And attended the Googer School and later school in Arcola, Mo. Lena was a homemaker most of her life but did work for several years at the Dunbrook factory near Greenfield, Mo. She also lived at Emporia, Ks. for four years where Verne was employed and for four years near Saint Joseph, Mo. again where Verne was employed.
Anyone who knew Lena knew she loved hummingbirds and enjoyed fixing her feeders for them. She also had a passion for flowers, particularly growing iris, daffodils, and peonies. Prior to her strokes Lena had enjoyed cooking large meals for family and friends.
Memorial Services will be held at the Ebenezer Presbyterian church in Greenfield, Mo. On Thursday April 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with a short graveside service to follow at the Pennsboro Cemetery.
