Leatrice Fetter, born April 13th 1926 in Richmond Virginia. Daughter of Harry and Rose Caplan passed away April 28th, 2021 at the age of 95.
Leatrice came to Springfield in 1947 shortly after marrying the love of her life, Bernard Fetter. Leatrice and Bernard raised 3 children, together they owned and operated a well-known shoe store and boutique in Springfield, where Leatrice was known for her radio commercials where she would begin “Hi, this is Mrs. Fetter with Fetters shoe and clothing company” in her distinct southern accent. Leatrice was very active in the local Temple, Temple Israel, the Temple sisterhood and the Hadassah.
Leatrice was a talented artist and was a member of several Art clubs in the Area. Lea was an accomplished writer, an amazing cook and loved having her family gathered together. She volunteered at Cox Hospital and tutored Reading in her retirement.
She is proceeded in death by her Parents Harry and Rose Caplan and her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Bernard Fetter.
Leatrice is survived by her sister, Joyce Siegel; her children, Allene Rose and her husband, Dennis, Bruce Fetter and his wife, Carolyn, Carrie Stewart and her husband, Mark; four grandchildren, Shondra Fetter, Craig Fetter, Aaron Rose and Amanda Kleysteuber; great grandchildren, Jordon, Chelsea, Ruth, Eloise, Alex and Brooklyn.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caregivers at the Woodland Skilled nursing home where she was lovingly cared for by the staff of C-Wing, which took the place of her family during the pandemic.
Graveside services were held April 30th at Temple Israel Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for contributions made to the Springfield Humane Society or charity of their choice.
