Leann Carol Thornton

Leann Carol Thornton, 39 Years Old, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Thursday Morning January 23rd 2025 in Springfield, Missouri in her home. 

She was born July 24th 1985 in Springfield, Missouri to Roger Lee and Julia Ann (Heger) Thornton. She attended Springfield Catholic High School where she graduated in the Class of 2004. 

While attending Springfield Catholic High School she was active at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and had fond memories of participating in The Happening Retreats. She was a member of the Freshmen Cheerleading Squad and was an avid fan of Fighting Irish Football. 

In her 20 years since High School Leann has been a proud homemaker for her sons, and has spent the last nearly 6 years heavily involved in the care of her special needs son Brayden. She enjoyed music, playing cards, laughing at funny movies or a good joke, and she loved the beauty of Marilyn Monroe. Leann had a smile that would light up the darkest of days. She had a saying that she chose to live her life after enduring so many hardships along the way.

“Never be a prisoner of your past. It was just a lesson, not a Life Sentence.”

She was preceded in death by her Father Roger Lee Thornton in 1995; brother Chris Michael Thornton in 2007; and Sister Linda June Roberts in 2008

She is survived by her Mother Julia Thornton of Springfield, MO, 4 Brothers (Mark, Mike, Roger Jr, and Bert), and 1 Sister (Michelle). 

In addition she leaves behind her 2 Beloved Sons: Cameron Thornton 16 Years Old, and Brayden Thornton 5 Years Old. 

Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Friday January 31st, 2025 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home located at 500 E. Walnut St. Springfield, MO 65806

Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Saturday February 1st 2025 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 3555 S. Fremont Ave, Springfield, Mo 65804 with Father Nick officiating the services. 

The Graveside Services will be at 12:00pm Saturday February 1st 2025 at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery at 4531 W. Division St., Springfield, MO 65802 with Father Nick officiating the services. 

Their will be a Funeral Luncheon hosted back at the community room at Immaculate Conception Church at the conclusion of the burial services from 12:30pm to 3:00pm 

In Lieu of Flowers, we are asking for Memorial Contributions to be made to a College Education fund for her oldest son Cameron Thornton.
