Lawrence Lockard

Lawrence McKinley “Rooster” Lockard was born May 12, 1939 in Yuma, Arizona to McKinley Mack and Ida Bell (Peevy) Lockard. He passed away Friday Dec. 19, 2014 in Springfield, Missouri.
After High School he moved to Los Angeles, California and worked as a scenic painter and also sang with a group named the Superbs. Rooster was an entertainer most of his life and joined a version of the Platters in 1960. He was also a part of the World Famous Platters who moved to Branson in 1996 when they headlined a show at Mutton Hollow.
Rooster and the World Famous Platters even performed and toured with Tony Williams, the Platter’s original lead vocalist, and Zola Taylor, the original female member of the group.
Throughout the years, Rooster and the rest of the World Famous Platters headlined several different shows at a handful of different venues.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony White, Gerald Guidry and Lavele Guidry; his sister Gwendolyn Ruth Lockard Johnson and her husband Willie Johnson; and many other relatives and friends.
