Lacy Columbus Martin was born in Smyth County, Virginia on March 8, 1931 and went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2016 in his home in Brookline, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents Howard & Carrie Maxey Martin; grandparents Robert & Isabelle Blevins and Levi Columbus & Birtie Martin.

Lacy is survived by his wife of sixty years, Martha Virginia Bell Martin. Three sons, James Bell (Missouri), Carl Shawn & wife Debora (Nevada) and Paul Steven (Missouri). Nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren (Virginia, New York and Missouri). His remaining siblings Charles Earl Martin (Maryland); Robert Maxey and sister, Alma Maybelle Blackburn (both of West Virginia). Various nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lacy graduated from Sophia West Virginia high school and Northwestern College of Minneapolis. He also attended seminary at the University of Dubuque Iowa and Covenant Seminary in St Louis, Missouri.
Lacy was a military veteran serving the Signal Corps with the 40th Infantry Division in Korea where he received two battle stars. Employed and retired as an electronics engineering technician at McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company in St Louis, Missouri for 33 years.
Lacy served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church in America. He was the former chaplain of the VFW Post 963, Springfield, for many years and a member of the Gideon South Camp of Springfield, where he was the chaplain and scripture distribution chairman. He was a long-standing member of the First Baptist Church of Springfield.

Friend and family visitation will be held Monday March 14 at Herman H Lohmeyer funeral home (500 E Walnut St) from 1-5 pm. On Tuesday, March 15 at 12 noon, Funeral Services will be held at the First Baptist Church with a visitation preceding the service at 11:15 am. Burial with full military honors will follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Gideons, Robert Coulter 608 East Deerfield St, Springfield, MO 65807.
