Kathryn Netzer

On Sunday, October 16, 2022, Kathryn Rose Netzer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away at the age of ninety-three, to be reunited in heaven with her parents and other loved ones. Katy was born June 10, 1929, in Springfield, MO to Curtice Eugene and Mary Gertrude (Gideon) Williams and was the youngest girl of 13 siblings. She graduated from Springfield Central Senior High School.

Katy married her high school sweetheart Roland Lee Netzer on January 7, 1951. Together Roland and Katy shared 71 years of marriage and raised their seven children: Kelly, Melvin, Jeffrey, Betsy, Fred, Jean, and Alice.

Katy, known for her self-deprecating wit and her genuine warmth alike, worked on the farm alongside Roland for many years while raising their children. Later, she was a manager of Hallmark Stores and enjoyed relationships with her coworkers and customers. She found true joy in spending time with her husband, children, and many grandchildren. Katy loved nothing more than being surrounded by her family for dinners and celebrations in her home, where she insisted on knowing what everyone had going in their lives so she could share with others.

Katy is preceded in death by her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and one grandson, Jacob Osborn.

Katy is survived by her husband Roland, her brother Fred Williams, and her children, Kelly and Barbara Netzer of Springfield, Melvin and Missy Netzer of Greenfield, Jeff and Stephanie Netzer of Lawrence, KS, Betsy (Netzer) and Tony Staudt of Milo, Fred Netzer of Springfield, Jean (Netzer) Osborn of Joplin and Alice (Netzer) and Phil Simpkins of San Antonio, TX. She is also survived by her grandchildren Josh Netzer, Brian Netzer, and Joe and Diamond Netzer of Springfield, Erik Netzer of Springfield, Roland Netzer of New York, NY, Skye Carroll, Springfield, Jaime (Netzer) and Adam Desnoyers of Lawrence, KS, Rachelle (Netzer) and Benjamin Young of Washington DC, Diana Staudt of Nevada, Katy (Staudt) and Cole Reed of Sheldon, Carrie Staudt of Joplin, Madeline Netzer of Springfield, Tamara Osborn of Little Rock, AR, Jack Osborn of Springfield, and Christina and Angela Simpkins both of San Antonio, TX.
