God has welcomed his newest angel to his flock. Karen Bridget Cherry “Bridgie” at the age of 57 passed on Friday September 14, 2018 at Cox Hospital amongst family.

Karen was a longtime resident of Springfield, MO. She graduated from St. Agnes Catholic High School as it was known then, now Springfield Catholic High School. She went on to become a Respiratory Therapist for 10 years at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. She took her knowledge from the medical field and returned to Springfield to work at Principal Financial Group, where she retired after 20 years. She was an avid sports fan from football, basketball, baseball, and beyond. Throughout her life she has enjoyed countless hours of love and family time as small as movie and a pizza to filling 32+ Christmas stockings every year with love so no one was forgotten. She anchored her family in their faith and prayers.

She is preceded in death by her father Raymond S. Cherry, mother Marie E. Cherry and eldest brother Danny R. Cherry. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Michael Cherry spouse Linda, Anna Brake spouse Mitchel, Sharon Hughes, Tim Cherry spouse Nita, Greg Cherry spouse Marcia Sanders, and Nelta Cherry. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Jeannie McGrail, Jeff McGrail, Israel Sackett, Walter Cherry, Cheryl Montgomery, Athena Keith, Steve Cherry, Nick Cherry, and numerous great-nephews.

Visitation will be held from 7:00-8:00 pm, Monday, September 17, 2018 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St., Springfield, MO. where a Prayer Service will begin at 7:45 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Springfield. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery on Mt. Vernon Street in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Joseph Church, 1115 N. Campbell Avenue, Springfield, Missouri 65802.
