Justin Christopher Craig, son of Dr. Chris and Vicki Craig of Springfield, was born On August 31st, 1984 and died on Saturday, April 2nd.
Justin’s passion for helping those in need or despair with kindness and an unmatched sense of humor are the trademarks of his brief, but meaningful and impactful life. Following graduation from Springfield Catholic High School in 2003, Justin attended Missouri State University, and while pursuing a degree in Early Childhood, worked as a counselor at Camp Bear with children whose many parents remind us often of the positive impact he made on their children. Justin also worked with children with disabilities as a paraprofessional in special education at Delaware elementary, prior to beginning his work in the private sector in Florida and most recently in St. Louis.
Justin will be remembered as a fiercely loyal friend, who had a profound love for his family especially his sister Jacqueline and best friend and brother Cameron. He had a deep love of family including his Grandparents, his many aunts, uncles, and cousins from both the Craig and Bertalott sides of the family. Justin was a diehard Cardinal's fan and genuinely loved sports and music. He loved Garth Brooks and more recently identified songs like “It Must Be Winter in my Heart” by the Avett Brothers and “Parts of You” by Ron Pope as representing his feelings, values, and insights on life. He will be profoundly missed.
A prayer service will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday April 10th followed by a visitation until 5 p.m. in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. His burial service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday April 11th in Resurrection Cemetery.
If desired memorial contributions in Justin’s memory may be made to the Drew Lewis Foundation in support of the Northwest Project 1126 North Broadway Springfield, MO 65802.
