Juliet Black
Juliet Cecelia "Siti"Black (Hagale) passed away on May 29, 2010 after a long illness. She was born on June 22, 1923 in McCurtain Oklahoma to Lebanese immigrants James H.and Hazel M. Hagale.
She graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1942 and on April 25, 1953 she was united in marriage to James O. Black, to that union four children were born.
Juliet retired in 1996 along with her husband. She spent her working years as a cook, first at St. Agnes Elementary School and later at the original Mexican Villa restaurant. In 1972 they relocated to Bartlesville, Oklahoma where she served as cook for the Phillips Petroleum Company preparing flight meals for the corporate fleet. She finished her cooking career working with a catering service in Salem. MO. She was also a member of the cooking staff for the local soup kitchen at the Catholic Church in Salem. Juliet enjoyed cooking for everyone that came to visit. She especially loved sharing her Lebanese heritage, along with its cuisine, with those that she met.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, seven siblings and her youngest son William Anthony (Tony) Black. Also, preceding her was her beloved Cocker Spaniel "Duffy".
When she wasn't in the kitchen she was busying collecting ornamental angels and salt and pepper shakers. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter.
She is survived by her husband James, of the home, daughter-in-law Tracy Black of Muskogee, OK, Hazel and Rob Morris of Holdenville, OK, Mary and Steve Gaines of Bartlesville, OK and James L. and Elaine Black of Springfield., twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday June 2, 2010, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Simon Le Phuc Diem, CMC celebrant under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Interment will be at a later date in Monett, MO.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Oxford Home Healthcare and Hospice, Springfield, MO, or the charity of your choice.
