Joyce Roberta Ward

Joyce Roberta Ward, age 93, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2025. She was born between Brookston and Culver Minnesota on October 9, 1931. Joyce spent her life devoted to her family, faith, and community.

Joyce was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ward and her sister, Zona. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Harmon (husband Clay), and her son, Michael Ward (wife Deanna). Her grandchildren, Jeffrey (wife Allie), Cameron (wife Breezy), Marissa (husband Quintin) and Mikayla (Silas). Great- grandchildren Fallon, Elliot, Inzo, Chayton, Remi and Zadie. Her siblings, Fae, Susie, Kay, Ruby and Paul. Along with other loving friends that were considered family.

Joyce was known and loved by many as an in-home babysitter, dedicating her life to nurturing and caring for countless children. She dedicated her time to working in the nursery at Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church for 60 years. Her gentle spirit, kindness, and unwavering patience touched the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. She truly had a gift for making every child feel special and loved.

A devout and loving Christian, Joyce’s faith guided her daily life and brought her comfort and peace. The church community transformed into a close-knit family, with each individual holding a profound place in her heart.

Joyce was the most gentle woman one could ever meet. Her kindness was so pure that it left a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. She didn’t have a mean bone in her body.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hamlin Memorial Baptist Church Nursery. Joyce’s love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A Visitation will be held at 9:00 am to 10:00 am on Monday, April 7th, 2025 at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home: 500 E. Walnut Street Springfield, MO 65806.

Graveside Service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, April 7th, 2025 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery: 5201 S. Southwood Road Springfield, MO 65804 , with Terry Kleier presiding over services. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri.
