Joyce Helene Chanda, 83, of East Jordan, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Tuesday, January 14th, 2025, at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Joyce was born on June 14th, 1941, in Brooklyn New York, to Edward F. Flannery and Grace Donahue Flannery. She was a dedicated mother, wife, and small business owner for many years.
Joyce was a dedicated volunteer in the East Jordan community, serving as a treasurer of the advisory board and a friendly greeter at the local senior center. Joyce will be remembered for her deep love for her community, her welcoming nature, and her ever-present friendly smile. She was always ready to make anyone new to the senior center feel at home. Joyce’s contributions and leadership left a lasting impact, and she was cherished by all who knew her.
Joyce is survived by her son, John Chanda; her daughters, Karen Christianson (Kenny) and Michele Lance (Ken); her brother, Gerry Flannery (Gianna); her sisters, Alice Kubacki (Wayne) and Virginia Marotta; as well as several grandchildren and two great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerome Chanda.
A Catholic Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 am, on Friday, January 31st, 2025, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church: 2200 W. Republic Road Springfield, MO 65807, with Fr. Nick Zummo celebrating over services.
