Frank ("Doc") Houston

Joseph Franklin Houston, 92, passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2006 surrounded by friends and family in his Willard, Mo. home after a long battle with cancer.

Frank was born in Ford City, Missouri on August 20, 1913 to John Henry and Meta (Wyss) Houston. He was a cattle rancher and farmer for many years. Joseph later retired from MODOT.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Thelma; two sons, Joseph Franklin and John Paul; daughter, Judy Lynn; his parents, J.H. and Meta Houston; two sisters Emma Snead, and Lila Allenbrand; three brothers, Johnny, Edward, and Raymond; and one nephew Bill Ambroski.

Frank is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jim Pope, Willard, Mo.; grandchildren, Frank Pope and his wife, Patricia, currently residing in Europe, and Camryn Beeter and her husband, John, Valdez, Alaska; and great-grandchildren, Heather Pope and Russell Swearingin II of Willard, Mo. and many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 11, 2006 in Resurrection Cemetery with Monsignor John Westhues officiating under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.

Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

The family would like to thank Community Hospices of America and their staff for their care of Frank.
