John W. Wheeler, age 54, of Springfield, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in his home. He was born November 10, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas to parents Bob and Carol Daniels.
John graduated from Central High School in 1980. He was a member of First Baptist Church. John loved to help others, spending much of his life volunteering in his community. Among his jobs, his favorite was the Kearney Branch Library, then the Library Station where he was a valued member for nearly 20 years. John loved sports. He enjoyed playing in his younger years; he enjoyed being a fan, watching and following his favorite teams: Colorado Rockies and Connecticut Lady Huskies.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Melinda Vogel; aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his aunt, Brenda Crain; his uncle, Ralph Simmons; his nephew, Adam Vogel and wife Tiffany; his sister, Roberta Powers and her children; many cousins and countless friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut, with Michael Overton officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Sunnyside Cemetery near Lincoln, Missouri. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, from 5-7 p.m. also at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
