John Roberts

In loving memory of John D. Roberts, 67, who was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away on March 8, 2006 of lung cancer.

John was born on February 23, 1939 in Lawton, Oklahoma. After school, John served in the United States Air Force. After his service to our country, he became an Iron Worker, Local #10, constructing many buildings that still stand today in Springfield. He retired after 35 years and decided to become a Licensed Real Estate Agent. John never knew a stranger and always enjoyed meeting new people and talking to friends. Having played college football himself, John was an avid sports fan about many sports, though football was his favorite by far.

He is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Judith Ann, son and daughter-in-law Wes and Sherri Roberts, and daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Rick Holland. John is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Aurora "Toots" Roberts and his brother Jerry Roberts.

Special thanks goes out to our close family friend, Jan Ramsey. Your love and support meant the world to us. You truly are an angel here on earth. Thank you also for the caring, wonderful workers at St. John's HospiceCare that helped us through this difficult time.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 12th in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, March 13th in Faith United Fellowship at I-44 and Exit 61 with Pastor Mark Kiser officiating.
