John Wayne Lewis 47 of Springfield passed away Monday July 20, 2009.
John was born Feb. 9, 1962 in Mansfield, Mo. to Donald Lee and Jessie Teresa (Laubert) Lewis.
He was very caring and compassionate to his neighbors and friends. John had a true passion for the outdoors. He was a skilled stockcar driver and an avid bass tournament fisherman. He also enjoyed hunting, baseball and skydiving. John worked within the plumbing trade as a mechanical engineer for over 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald L. Lewis and his stepfather, Billy M. Crisman.
He is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Lewis of Willard, Mo. and Lindsey Lewis of Springfield; his grandson, Wyatt Slavens; his mother, Jessie Crisman of Springfield; his brother, Joe Lewis and his wife, Cary of Seymour, his sisters, Sharon Davis and her husband, Charlie of Mansfield, Linda Cravens of Springfield, Sandra Stewart of Springfield, Donna Green and her husband, Max of Mansfield, Janette Wilson and her husband, Jim of Lebanon; two stepbrothers and two stepsisters; his K-9 companion, Boo; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 22, 2009 in St. Agnes Cathedral with Msgr. Thomas Reidy celebrant. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service time in the church.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St. to be directed by the family at a later time.
