John Ernest Friesser age, 89 passed away January 17th, 2012 in Springfield, MO
John was born in Holland, Michigan in 1922. As a child, he lived on his parents’ fruit farm. He served in the US army during World War II. As a member of the Infantry Brigade, he loaded shells into five–inch guns. He fought in the Battle of Bulge, and was taken as a prisoner of war. After the war, Mr. Friesser earned a mechanical engineering degree from the University of New Mexico. Among the places he worked is Bausch and Lomb in Rochester, New York. His favorite pastimes included taking long, daily walks, watching football (especially the Green Bay Packers) and college basketball, and talking about world and American history. Mr. Friesser retired in Springfield, Missouri.
Mr. Friesser is the son of the late John and Freda Friesser, and the brother of the late William and Julius Friesser. He is survived by two nephews, Brian and Matthew Friesser, a niece, Michaelen LeHew, a grand-nephew, and two-grand nieces, all of Baltimore, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Monday Jan. 23, 2012 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Street with Pastor Cass Schreib officiating. Committal services with full military honors will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery. No visitation is planned.
