John J. Daume, 92, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, April 23, 2011.
He was born on November 10, 1918 in Cape Girardeau to John W. and Meta Engelmann Daume. John was founder of Johnny Daume and His Ozark Ridgerunners, a popular regional band in the 40's, and became a well-known radio DJ, entertainer and song writer in the country music industry in the 50's & 60's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, sister Louise (Lloyd) Schoenebeck, brother-in-law Lloyd Schoenebeck, granddaughter Tonya Lenz, great-granddaughter Ava Toms, and his former wife/children's mother Delores Huckstep Daume. John is survived by his children Roger (Kathy) Daume, Dan (Sherri) Daume, Carla (Alan) Bryant, Kate (Jeff) Rihn, and Steve (Kathie) Daume; sisters Dorothy (Lawrence) Heise, Martha (Elmer) Kamp, and Mary Daume; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held near Jackson, MO at a later date.
