John Chase

John Stafford Chase beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away at his home, on Sunday, Jan 26, 2014, at the age of 74. John was very passionate about his Church, Mission work and KU Basketball. John was born April 6, 1939 at home in Pittsfield, Maine to Viola (Stafford) and Elmer Chase. He attended the Pittsfield Grade school through the sixth grade. At the age of 12 the family moved to Bath, Maine, where he attended Morse School. After graduation, in 1937, he attended Maine Maritime Academy for two years, after which he enlisted in the US Army, serving his country for two years. In 1969 he married Linda Gallaher and to this union was born one son John, Jr.
John had an entrepreneur spirit and built a professional security company, providing employment to over 300 employees, servicing Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas and Uranium mines in New Mexico. John’s company also provided security for celebrities including Elvis Presley and Henry Winkler. He then became a pilot, flying his own plane to service multiple states. He was made an honorary member of The Texas Rangers and awarded an official white hat and Texas Ranger buckle.
Twenty five years ago he married Mary Karla Drouhard, and they had two daughters, Danielle and Breanna. His work brought him to Springfield, MO where MidSouth Financial was established by he and his wife Karla. MidSouth expanded over seven states and eventually established a sister company named MidSouth Estate Planning.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joyce Xitts. John is survived by his wife Karla, one son John, daughters, Danielle (Russ) Fowler, Breanna (Jarod) Michel and grandchildren, McKenzie Chase, Jacob, Lauren, Elyse, and Cole Fowler. Sisters, Patricia (Francis) Bisson and Bonnie Zachareus, all of Brunswich, Maine, many nieces, nephews and friends.
In honor of John, donations may be made to Shores of Grace, whose Mission is the rescue of young girls from slave trade. John felt very strongly about this Mission.
Celebration services will be at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, January 30, 2014 in Dayspring Church, 2157 N. Prospect Ave.
