John Campbell

Mr. John Keith Campbell, 69, Springfield died at 5:30 a.m. Sunday, March 13, 2005 in his home.

John was born in Bloomington, Ind., on December 13, 1935 to John Allison Campbell and Grace Louise (Goodman) Campbell. His home was near the Indiana University campus, where he attended the University School. His boyhood was filled with hunting, fishing, and camping in the nearby forests and lakes. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1954 to 1962, serving in Korea. After leaving the Corps, he worked for the Department of Defense on Navy Bases in the San Diego area. Following his retirement, he moved to the Springfield area, where he worked in law enforcement and security.

John's interests included Western and Native American history and traveling to all parts of the United States. His greatest passion was supporting the Drury University Lady Pather basketball team. He made many trips with the team and formed lasting friendships among the players, coaches and fans.

He is survived by his wife Jeanine Campbell of the home; two children, Tracy Louise Campbell-Booth of Seymour and Keith Aaron Campbell and wife Dena of Diggins, Mo.; three stepchildren, David Lee Scott and wife Lori of Alton, Mo., Alice Scroggins of Springfield; and Dan Scott and wife Melissa of Springfield; four grandchildren, Alexzander Blake Campbell, Lacy Cheyenne Campbell, Dallas Edward Booth and Alexis Lee Booth; three stepgrandchildren, Nick Scroggins, Christa Denise Scott and Craig Loren Scott; and two sisters, Joanne Douglas of Bloomington, Ind. and Judy Kay of Oceanside, Calif.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 16, 2005 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Chapel 500 E. Walnut with Rev. David Scott officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7 pm to 9 pm Tuesday in the funeral home.
