John Bechtel
John Fredrick Bechtel, 73, Wheatland, MO., passed away at 5:40 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 in Cox South Medical Center (Springfield, MO).
He was born October 14, 1935 in Olpe, KS to Anna and Herman Bechtel. Mr. Bechtel was a veteran, having served in Korea as a Lineman. Mr. Bechtel worked as a truck driver, retiring from Flemming Foods in 1997. He was a nature lover and enjoyed fishing, hunting, feeding the birds and deer at his lake home.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law Laura and Brian Yanez of Overland Park, KS and Jill and Gale Murphy of Frankfort, IL; four grandchildren; a brother, Joseph Bechtel and a sister, Rosa Spinden. He leaves behind his loving companion, Sherry Arnold; other relatives and many friends.
Mr. Bechtel's family will be welcoming family and friends beginning at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2009, in the Church of the Ascension, 9510 W. 127th St., Overland Park, KS. The Memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. with Monsignor Thomas Tank as celebrant. The body has been cremated under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home Springfield, Missouri. Burial will be at a later date in Leavenworth, KS.
