John Joseph "Joe" Arnold, 86, Springfield, passed away at 6:35 a.m. Sunday, August 13, 2006, in Primrose Place Healthcare Center.
Joe was born September 6, 1919 in Springfield, MO to Roy L. and Pearl M. (Newbill) Arnold. Mr. Arnold, a MSU alumnus, was a World War II veteran, serving under General Patton in Europe during the D-Day+2 Invasion, and a long-time Harry Cooper Supply employee.
Mr. Arnold is survived by his wife, Rose Mae of the home; his five children and their spouses, Jerry Lee and Esther Arnold of Franklin, Ohio; John J., Jr. and Dale Arnold of Springfield; Sharon and Gary Swanby of Ramsey, Minn.; Richard and Mary Ann Arnold of Springfield; Charles and Virginia Arnold of Highlandville, MO; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and his brother, Roy Louis Arnold of Brooklyn, NY.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m.Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2006, in St. Agnes Cathedral with Fr. Mike McDevitt celebrant. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut St.
Visitation begins at 5 pm, followed by Prayer Service at 7 pm today (Tuesday) in the funeral home.
