Joan met the love of her life while roller skating. John was a soldier in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Chicago. Shortly after meeting, John was deployed to Korea. After he returned from Korea, they were married and celebrated 65 loving years together before he passed one year ago.
Family was always a priority for Joan and John. They always attended band concerts, marching band, sporting events and school functions for their children, grandchildren and even their great grandchildren.
Joan was a longtime volunteer for Newborns in Need, sewing 50 pairs of warm baby booties per week as well as other miscellaneous things. She was always busy preparing handmade Christmas gifts for all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren beginning January 1st for the next year. She loved thrift store shopping and said, “It’s my therapy”, especially since she lost her husband.
Joan was loved and highly respected by all of her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends. We will remember her every day and keep her close within our hearts.
