Joan Homan, of Springfield, passed away at 3:45 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2008 in ManorCare.
Joan was born January 27, 1916 in San Angelo, Texas to Joseph and Frances (McCormick) Hyland. She married Mark V. Homan on June 29, 1943. She was a member of St. Agnes Cathedral and along with her husband Mark was a Custodian of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue for over 20 years. She loved all things beautiful, especially music and nature.
She is survived by three children, Fred Homan and his wife Trudie of Blue Springs, MO, Rosalyn M. Homan and Geri Grooms both of Springfield; 5 grandchildren, Andrea Pemberton, New York City, NY, Kiersten Plute, Kansas City, MO, Alissa Matthews, Little Rock, AR, Serena Harris, Little Rock, AR, and Britany Grooms of Springfield; three great-grandchildren, Knox, Talulah and Tennessee Plute; her brother, Brother Gerald J. Hyland, S.M., of St. Louis, MO; her sisters, Sister M. de Chantal Hyland and Sister Frances Ann Braddock of Fort Smith, AR, and Mrs. Joyce Tingle of Arlington, TX; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2008 in St. Agnes Cathedral with Fr. Mike McDevitt celebrant. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Street. Visitation will be from 6 pm to 7:30 p.m. Thursday with a rosary service starting at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
