Jerry Eckman

Jerry Eckman, 82, went to be with Jesus, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.

Jerry loved the Lord with all his heart. He loved playing the accordion, learning to play as a kid in high school. Jerry was blind at birth but did not let that stop him from taking care of his family. He went to tech school in Des Moines, Iowa where he learned to be a machinist. He worked for United Hydraulic in Hampton, Iowa and also worked for Eaton Corp. in Belmond, Iowa. He did volunteer work as well. His last place of employment was at Envision in Wichita, Kansas.

Jerry married Donna Hopkey on February 4, 1970.

He is survived by his three children, Harlan Barker from Des Moines, Iowa, Lannette Banwell (Morisset) from Billings, Missouri and Richard Eckman from Mexico, Missouri. His grandchildren, Tanya (Freie) Scarrow, Cory Freie, Summer Banwell (Poitra), Vincent Banwell, Katie Barker (Peters), Chastity Lich, Joanna Schenkel, and Derek Lumley. Nineteen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; and a daughter, Rose Freie.
