Jerry Doty

Jerry was born February 19th, 1948 in Independence, MO to his parents Edwin James and Mary Lorene (Nichol) Doty. He married Brenda Joyce (Dunkle) Doty on March 3rd, 1984. He went to be with his heavenly father on September 23rd, 2021.

He was an Alumni of Butler School District in MO, and received his Associates Degree from Fort Scott Jr. College. He then ventured to Central Missouri State University to earn 2 Bachelor Degrees, one in Psychology and the other in Science. He then went on to complete his Masters in Clinical Psychology. His love of playing football helped carry him through his education.

After that period of time, he worked in the profession of Psychology for the Lincoln Developmental Center in Illinois and the Missouri Department of Corrections. He retired from the Department of Corrections in Missouri in 2008.

Jerry was proceeded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mary, his brother, James Edwin Doty, and his grandson Derek Anthony Doty.

He is survived by his wife Brenda (Dunkle) Doty, Son and Daughter-in-law, Michael and Leigh (Adams) Doty, Daughter and Son-in-law, Danielle (Doty) and Andrew Blanton, His grandchildren Parker Doty, Mikayla Doty, Lily Blanton, Ellie Blanton, and Callie Blanton.

Jerry loved and was inspired by his family, friends, and Church Family at Southland Christian Church. They stood by him through thick and thin when he needed them most.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 10:00am, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Southland Christian Church, 1630 W. Republic Road in Springfield, Missouri with Pastor Matt Martin officiating.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in memoriam to: Southland Christian Church 1630 W Republic Road Springfield, MO 65807.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street in Springfield, Missouri.
