Jerome Dewane

Jerome "Jerry" P. DeWane, 75, Springfield, passed away at 12:43 a.m. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 in St. John's Hospital. He was born February 20, 1934 in Belvidere, Illinois to Paul and Katherine (Winters) DeWane. He married Melba Higginbothan on December 23, 1978. Jerome had a love for Branson and the shows, and he had a tender heart towards animals.

Mr. DeWane is survived by his wife, Melba; a daughter, Paula Skinner and her husband Wesley; grandchildren, Sarah Miller and her husband Aaron, Hannah Skinner; a cousin, Nancy Cantrell and her husband David of Munds Park, Arizona; and numerous in-laws, friends, and special neighbors.

Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2009 in St. Agnes Chapel with Monsignor Thomas Reidy, celebrant, under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut. Burial will be in Robberson Prairie Cemetery.

Prayer services will start at 6 p.m. Thursday with a visitation to follow until 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
