Janice Myres

Janice Virginia (Roper) Myres, age 60, passed away peacefully in her home on June 12, 2018. A native of Springfield, Janice was born on August 11, 1957 to parents Raymond W. and Mary (Hacker) Roper.

Janice was a 1975 graduate of St. Agnes Catholic School and later attended Missouri State University where she was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Janice graduated with honors earning two teaching degrees in 1980.

Janice was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister. She had a remarkable ability to reach people in a profound way, and her smile could light up a room. Throughout her life, Janice and her family lived in Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio. She never met a stranger and leaves behind a legacy of friendships in each place that she lived.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Myres) Cavitt and husband, Chase of Oklahoma City, OK, son Christopher Myres and wife, Claudia (Ianetti) of Chester, VA; three grandchildren, Linley Cavitt and Liam and Lucas Myres, and sister Cindy Roper of Springfield. Janice also leaves behind numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Ray “Bud” Jr. and Sue (Roper) Baughman.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut Street, Springfield, MO 65806. Graveside service will follow at Eastlawn Cemetery, 2244 E. Pythian Street, Springfield, MO 65802.
