James Paul Day, 63, of Springfield, Missouri, passed from this life peacefully in his home with family at his side on Sunday morning, July 1, 2012.
Paul was born October 19, 1948, to Adrin and Dorothy Day of Lewisville, Texas.
His career in the restaurant industry included positions as banquet chef for Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Springfield, Missouri, and co-manager of Martin Brothers Cafe in Austin, Texas. Vegetarian food was his specialty, and he loved owning and operating Wellspring Cafe in Springfield, Missouri, with his family during his last years.
He will be forever missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Day; daughters, Samantha Day, Heather McLaughlin, Mariah Truitt and her husband Tony, Sarah Humphrey and her husband Tim, Katie Day and Sarah Corso; sons, Jesse Day and Micah Day; grandchildren, Malachi, Hannah, Bill, James, and a new grandchild expected in Feb. 2013; sister, Luana Lee; brothers, David Day, Lee Day and Richard Day; and several nieces and nephews.
No services are planned.
Honoring Paul's wish, the family placed his ashes on the graves of his father, mother and grandparents (Lester and Ora Ann Day, and James Floyd and Lucyle Durham) in his beloved home state of Texas.
