Jackie Junior “Jack” Acton passed away on January 9, 2015 at the age of 74. Jack died at his home in Willard due to natural causes. Jack was born to Jack and Bessie Acton on May 27, 1940 in Rogersville, Missouri. He lived in Springfield and Willard, Missouri. Jack was married for 23 years to Susie Acton of Springfield, MO. They have 3 children.

Jack is survived by his son, Michael Acton and his wife Laurie of Pittsburg, Mo; His daughter, Angela Mathews and her husband Slade of Long Lane, MO; His daughter, Blanca Baize and her husband Tom of Kadena Air Force Base in Okinawa, Japan; His granddaughter, Capri Sanders of Willard, MO; 6 additional grandchildren, Jessica (Baize) Andies, Petty Officer Daniel Baize, USN, Airman First Class Timothy Baize, Lackland AFB, TX, Thomas “TJ” Baize, John Baize and Sarah Baize; His sister, Judy Chastain and her husband Gerald of Willard and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rex Acton and a sister, Patricia June. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Jack put himself through business school earning a bachelor degree. Jack served the City of Springfield for 38 years retiring as the supervisor of buildings and maintenance. Jack severed in the United States Army from Dec 16,1959 to Dec 14,1962 stationed in Korea. In his spare time he enjoyed his horses, reading, and spending time with his granddaughter. He was well known in local restaurants that served coffee.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16, 2015 in Central Christian Church (Disciples of Church) located at 1475 N. Washington Ave., Springfield, MO for fellowship from 10:00 am to 11:30 am in the fellowship hall, with memorial services beginning at 11:30 am. Graveside services with military honors will be in the Springfield National Cemetery at 1:00 pm under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
