Jack Edward Post, age 89, entered into his eternal rest Wednesday, February 8th, at home in Springfield, surrounded by family.
Jack was born March 28th, 1927 in Depew, Oklahoma to John Tinky and Lorraine Eve (Shields) Post; the eldest of their four children. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served as a Colonel's Aide in China. After his service, he was a traveling auditor for the Rock Island Railroad; later a dock foreman for the Rock Island Motor Transit.
He married Barbara Dresslar in 1952 in Belleville, Kansas. He married Ramona Nolan in March of 1963, in Council Bluffs, Iowa. They owned and operated several businesses, including rental properties in Council Bluffs and later in Springfield.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, James and sister-in-law, Helen Jean of Houston, and son-in-law, Bart Henry of Mullin, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Ramona, Son, Michael (Janice) Post, of Bay City, Texas, daughters, Belinda (Dennis) Anstey, of Ottumwa, Iowa, Kathy Henry of Springfield, Sue (Dan) Ford, of Audubon, Iowa, and Lisa (Jeff) Kahler, of Springfield. 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, sisters, Helen Fielder of Belleville, Kansas, Beverly (Gary) Bothwell, of Topeka, Kansas, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut Street. Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, February 13, 2017, in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Kevin Anstey officiating. All are invited to Hemingway’s Cafe, 4th floor of Bass Pro Shops, following the service, 1935 S. Campbell Ave.
Private burial will be in Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
