Irvin Ray "Razor" Hull went to be with his Lord and Savior July 9, 2018.

A Celebration of Life for "Razor" will be held August 11 at Farber Community Center with visitation from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Immediately following, an informal celebration with everyone and anyone that wants to speak about "Razor" is invited to do so during this time.

Born Sept 16, 1927 to Thomas Lee and Nannie Katherine Hull in Farber, Mo. He attended Farber school and graduated in May 1945 with honors. He entered the U.S. Navy and served during WW II until his discharge Sept 16, 1948. He attained the rank of Hospital Corpsman Second. He was San Diego, Pearl Harbor, Guam, Hiroshima, Japan and Australia.

He worked during some of his school years for North American Refractories Co in Farber, Mo and after his service for 46 1/2 years, starting as a laborer and them as foreman/supervisor retiring in Nov. 1988. In the early years he also worked for the railroad in Chaffee, Mo., when he met the love of his life, Bettie B. Flowers of Cape Girardeau, Mo. and they were married June 23, 1950 in Piggott, Ark. They were married for 60 years until her death on Oct. 5, 2010.

Survivors include son Ros and Diana Hull of Vandalia, Mo., daughter Cindy and Jim Bair of Battlefield, Mo., and son Dwayne Hull of Farber, Mo. Grandchildren: Ros E. Hull, Dana Hull and Stephanie Hull of Vandalia, Mo., Debbie and Jason Stolte, Eric and Sarah Dudley, of Hannibal, Mo., C.J. and Erica Bair of Springfield, MO., Cody Hull and Aaron Hull of Farber, Mo., and Megan Trower of Vandalia, Mo., & 20 great grandchildren. He also is survived by 2 sisters, Millie Hulse of Farber, Mo., and Maurine Selby of Pleasant Hill, Mo.

"Razor" was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, Sisters: Beulah Shepherd, Emma Browning, Margie McCoy, Marie Harris, brothers Billy Burke Hull, Almer Hull, Roswell "Sorg" Hull and Earl "Beano" Hull.

He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying managing and playing baseball and softball teams. He was the catcher for several area fast pitch teams and a member of 2 state championship teams. He managed over 30 youth and adult teams during his "career". He was also an avid bowler, bowling for over 50 years, bowling in State, National an a lot of local and regional tournaments. He was voted into the Vandalia Bowling Hall of Fame and served as Association Secretary for over 30 years. He enjoyed working with the youth, such as boy scouts, 4-H and others. He served as statistician for Van-Far High School football and basketball teams for several years.

The family is asking everyone who played ball with and for him to try and attend. A get together "ballgame" will be held at approximately 3:30 at the Farber Lions Ballfield. Anyone who can play is invited and everyone invited to watch if you can not play.

Immediately following the celebration, before the game, a carry in dinner will be held.
