Irene Jogerst

Irene M. Jogerst passed away Monday, January 31, 2005 in Mercy Villa. She was born October 9, 1904 to Joseph and Emily (Gross) Miller in Galena, Illinois. She attended Platteville State Normal School. At age 21 she started teaching grade school and continued until she retired from Illinois and Wisconsin school systems. She was certified in Illinois from 1930 to 1967. She was a member of the National Retired Teachers Association. She was an active teacher for 45 years.

She married Donald H. Jogerst on December 25, 1929. They lived in Lena and Warren, Illinois, Cuba City, Wisconsin, and Shell Knob and Springfield, Missouri. She was a very active member of St. Rose Catholic Daughters in Cuba City.

She is survived by son, David and wife, Patricia of Gulf Breeze, Florida. She enjoyed her 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 17 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H., a daughter, Rosemary Wood, and a brother, Arthur.

Funeral Mass will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 3, 2005 in Mercy Villa Chapel with Father Marek Bozek, celebrant. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery under the care of Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.

Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, in Mercy Villa, preceding the funeral.
