Inez Mary (Beard) Eiken

Inez M. Eiken, age 90, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away at Mercy Villa in Springfield, MO on February 7, 2007.

Inez was born to Perry and Cynthia (Sons) Beard on March 16, 1916 in Miller County, near Ulman, MO.

She met Cyril Eiken while working in a garment factory in Jefferson City, MO. They were married on September 27, 1939. Inez became a homemaker and raised seven children who survive: Donald Eiken, Carthage, MO; Robert Eiken, Kansas City, KS; Ruth Ann and husband Larry Kellner, Strafford, MO; Dennis Eiken, Springfield; Rosemary and husband William Cologna, Springfield; Bernard (Butch) and Leiann Eiken, North Kansas City, MO; Joyce Eiken and husband Bruce Adib-Yazdi, Springfield. Twenty-three grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, sisters Faye McCall, Ruth Bolten, and sister-in-law Goldie Beard also survive.

Inez was preceded in death by her husband Cyril, grandsons Daniel and Brandon Eiken, and daughter-in-law Margaret Eiken.

Inez moved to Springfield in 1947 and was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 60 years. Inez possessed a zest for life, an intense love of family, an undying faith in God, and a great sense of humor.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today with prayer services starting at 7:30 p.m. all in the Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home 500 E. Walnut St.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007 in St. Joseph's Church with Fr. Denis Dougherty, OSB celebrant. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery Springfield, MO.
