Howard O. Stepp, Sr, passed away at his home in Shell Knob, MO on 3/16/2015, at the age of 81 from Myelodysplastic Syndrome. He was very active and energetic his entire life and was most at home outdoors walking, riding his bike, floating Missouri streams and fishing Flat Creek and Table Rock lake.
He was born June 16, 1933, in Springfield, MO, where he lived and worked as a mechanic. In 1975, he moved his family to Shell Knob to be closer to his beloved outdoors and opened Stepp’s Garage.
Howard was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served as a C47 crew chief and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.
He is survived by his three children, Janice and Joe Swofford of Shell Knob, Buck and Sherry Stepp of Azle, TX and Jim and Karen Stepp of Shell Knob; a sister, Joetta Rader of Springfield; and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Norma; his parents, Oral and Kathryn; and his brother Harold.
A celebration of Howard’s life is planned for 3/21/2015 at First Baptist Church in Shell Knob at 3:00 p.m., he was a longtime member and deacon. Pastor Bob Gaddis will officiate.
