Helen M. Lohmeyer Bacon, 76, Springfield, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Monday, June 9, 2008, with her children by her side in Cox South Hospital.
She was born July 29, 1931 in Willow Springs, Missouri to Walter and Nora (Cox) Range, Sr. Helen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great friend. She possessed a quick wit and was known to speak her mind. She volunteered at the Library Center and was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church and former member of St. Agnes Cathedral.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Herman H. Lohmeyer, Jr.; her second husband, Fred L. Bacon; two brothers, Joseph J. and Walter Range, Jr.; and two grandchildren, Joshua and Luke Clift.
She is survived by her children, Douglas Clift of Norman, Oklahoma, Deborah Lohmeyer of Northampton, Massachusetts, Herman H. "Tre" Lohmeyer, III of St. Louis, Missouri, and Mary Korte of Tulsa, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2008 with Rosary service at 7 p.m. in Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 13, 2008 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Monsignor Thomas Reidy, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
