Harwood Northmore Sturtevant M.D., age 91 of Springfield, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, December 13, 2015, in Springfield, Missouri. He was born in Chicago and raised in Wisconsin. He attended Carleton and Berea Colleges, Notre Dame and St. Louis Universities receiving M.D. in 1949. Post-doctorial training was at Marquette University, (Milwaukee County Hospital), University Hospital, Columbus, Ohio and Brooke Army Hospital, San Antonio, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy (1943-46) and U.S. Air Force (1949-60) resigning as a Lt. Colonel where he was chairman of the radiology department (diagnostic and therapeutic) at Wilford Hall, USAF Hospital, San Antonio. He was a visiting professor of radiology, Baylor University, Houston (1958-60). He served on the Surgeon Generals committee to establish intern and resident training in military hospitals. Dr. Sturtevant entered private practice with Dr’s Napper and Anthony in 1960. He served as medical staff president at St. John’s Hospital (Mercy) 1977-79. He was a fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American College of Chest Physicians. Dr. Sturtevant retired early so that he and his wife could teach ( 1st in South Korea, then 2 yr’s in China. He is survived by his wife Molly, five children, thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. His ashes will be interred at the Chapel of the Intercession Llewellyn Beach, Ontario, Canada and All Saints Anglican Church, Springfield, Missouri. He was a child of God and Heir of the Kingdom of Heaven. His memorial service will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, in All Saint's Anglican Church, 2751 S. Galloway St, with his wife's at 10:00 a.m.
