Harriett H. Ford, 90, passed away on May 22, 2005, at her home in Springfield.
She moved to Springfield with her husband, the late Bruce R. Ford, in the late 1940s, and taught Chemistry at Southwest Missouri State for many years. Born January 16, 1915, in Wray, Colorado, the daughter of Louis and Roxy (Nolte) Henke. She graduated from Colorado College, and also attended Iowa State University. She was a member of Chapter IS of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Society, Iota Sigma Pi National Honor Society for Women in Chemistry, the SMSU Chemistry Department Advisory Board, and First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, and was formerly a member of the First Congregational Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Beth Scott (Joe), of Wichita Falls, Texas; her son, Frank B. Ford (Linda), of Dearborn Heights, Michigan; six grandchildren: Rosalyn Hall, Steve Scott, Tracie Scott, Jacob Scott, Stefania Ford, and Clayton Ford; six great-grandchildren; and her brother, Louis Henke, Jr., of Lakewood, Colorado.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 28, at 1:00 P.M., at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are being handled through Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Harriett H. Ford Memorial Scholarship Fund, made payable to the SMSU Chemistry Department, 901 S. National, Springfield, MO, 65804. She was quite a lady, with many friends. She will be sorely missed.
