Glendora Glass

Glendora M. Glass, 92, of Springfield, died Thursday, September 21, after a short illness.

She was born October 21, 1913, the daughter of James Glen McLean and Adelaide (Koenig) McLean.

She was graduated from the University of Nebraska with a B.A. degree in 1933. She was an accomplished musician and, while in college and for several years thereafter, she played the piano, violin and trumpet professionally. Later she became a school teacher and taught grade school in St. Joseph, Missouri, and East Peoria, Illinois. For many years, she was active in the Order of the Eastern Star and in 1968 she served as Worthy Matron of the Creve Coeur, Illinois, Chapter. She was also a member of Ascension Episcopal Church in Springfield.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, and a brother. She is survived by her son, Topper Glass, and son, Glen A. Glass and his wife, Ginny Glass, of San Antonio, Texas. Surviving granddaughters and their husbands are: Julie and Tim Carter of Springfield; Charlotte and Martin Ibarra of San Diego, CA; Alison and Jason Brawner of Springfield; and Melissa and Joel Pardue, Falls Church, VA. Also surviving are six great grandchildren: Camp Carter, Claire Carter, Victor Ibarra, T.J. Ibarra, Jackson Brawner and Mollie Brawner.

Family memorial graveside services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. in Hazelwood Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home, 500 E. Walnut.
